ATTORNEY Shana Ahmad

Shana P. Ahmad, Esq.
Shana Ahmad received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2002 she received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from The University of Baltimore School of Law. In her final year of law school, Shana broadened her scope of courses and took an immigration law course. She was encouraged by her professor, a U.S. immigration court judge in Baltimore to practice law and to be inspired by immigration law especially as America is the home of the immigrant.
During her second and third year of law school Shana was a law clerk for a busy Montgomery County practice with a wide practice scope, including criminal, civil, and family law. Following Shana’s graduation and acceptance to the Bar of the State of Maryland she began practicing immigration law at The Law Offices of Ismail Laher, later known as The Laher Law Group. She represented clients from the DC/MD/VA region and up and down the east coast with a large number of clients traveling to meet with her from New York and New Jersey and continues to do so at her own practice.
Shana has had success in areas challenged by USCIS such as employer ability to pay and lack of birth certificate for certain nationals. She has written many successful memos challenging the USCIS traditional approach of viewing only primary evidence in cases where secondary evidence is plentiful but the primary documents are not available.
In 2007 Shana founded Ahmad Legal LLC where she has practiced immigration law, employment law and contract review. Shana speaks Urdu, Hindi and Spanish. She also is an avid tennis player and runner and enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Omar Ahmad and their two young children.
